A visit to HELP University College Toastmasters Club
Congratulations to our guest Azri Syazwan, who is also from UNITAR for his courage to volunteer himself in the table topics session! It was his first time experiencing Toastmasters meeting and participating in the session. Azri, we hope to see you again in our upcoming meetings after the semester break :D
A big congratulations to Nimmala, TM for being voted as the Best Table Topics Speaker and also for completing her 4th Assignment Project from the Competent Communicator Manual! She gave a very in depth and personal review on part two of the Twilight Saga, none other than the "New Moon" movie. Nimmala impressed the audience with her usage of words and wide vocabulary. Although Nim thought that the movie was a bit mopey and draggy, she still finds Edward irresistible! (Oh no, another Team Edward!). Qinmei, ACB, CL evaluated Nim's speech on that day, highlighting on her strong points and some areas of improvement. Way to go Nim!
The WOD was used 24 times during the meeting. Yes, 24 times! It was indeed an exuberant meeting :) We really had fun and wish to attend another meeting next time.

Christmas Dinner with DU Advanced Toastmasters
On 10 December 2009, we were lucky to be able to join DU Advanced Toastmasters Club for their Christmas meeting + Penang Street Food at The Mage Cafe (Damansara Jaya). Good food, great bunch of energetic people, infectious laughter and enthusiasm...what's not to love?
Oh, and not to be forgotten, all of us were given a Santa hat upon registration!

The word of the day is MERRIMENT, a noun which simply means fun, laughter and happy talk. It definetely suited the mood of the casual meeting as everyone was enjoying themselves while keeping in touch with fellow Toastmasters from other clubs. We instantly felt very welcomed by the merry crowd and amazing camaraderie seen :)

Our Area B1 Governor, ACB CL Julian Gan was given the honour of becoming the General Evaluator (GE) of the meeting.

We had a wonderful time during the table topics session because of the topics given by our Table Topics Master - Lukreiza, CC. She added some flavour into the session by relating the theme "Malaysia's Colourful Festival" with the topics given. Some talked about the Hungry Ghost Festival, Hari Raya, while others give their opinion about being a Malaysian; blessed with the opportunity to celebrate many festivals =)
Then the prepared speech speakers took the stage and entertained u
As for Nimmala, she gave a speech about her idol - Sir Richard Branson. She inspired us with the things he did to make a difference in his life. The lessons were - Never take "NO" for an answer, Use creativity to get something you want.
The best table topics speaker was - Nimmala, TM!!!
The meeting ended with the closing speech for our Miss President who again encouraged us to move on and work hard for the remaining weeks of this semester =)
We also got a little token from our generous Miss President! Hooray!
See you all again next year!
And see you all around other clubs!

:: President Address- Halloween Meeting 09' ::
Carrying a heavy mind, I spoke to a few of my friends about the idea and theme. Initially, three of them were excited about the meeting but as I told them that the meeting would tag along with Ghost Story Telling they gave me a worried face and said "eeeee...". Apparently, most of them have Nyctophobi-Fear of Dark and Phasmophobia – Fear of Ghost.
Without thinking twice, I thought this would be a good time for us to practice stepping out from our comfort zone in many ways.
Thus I proposed it during the last EXCOs meeting, without any hesitation my fellow EXCOs gladly agreed with the idea.
Then we started to think further, how can this event be unique? In the sense where we will be able to learn something yet have some fun and most importantly encourage people to step out from their own comfort zone and discover their own potentials.
In our society culture, we often believe in ignoring our deepest inner feelings of ours. We often fail in admitting our flaws, but others’ in real. Like, I am born to be bad with mathematics, the minute I see figures my head would spin. How many of you are like that?
All these little fears can be overcome in many ways. I know few of you who are here are suffering the Fear of Ghost just like I do. My close friends would never watch Horror with me as I would likely to have nightmares or wakeful night after hearing ghost stories.
There again, we must not let excuses to come into our ways. We are born to overcome all this fears. Not accumulating them. Fears of overcoming our weakness are just like our journey that is often stuck between a riverbank.
Today, is the time for you, you and you to start building the bridge between the riverbank by stepping out your very comfort zone. Simply by these three little steps. Firstly, don’t be shy and stopped clinging on your old buddies; meet some new friends. Secondly, always carry the right mind and often give the benefits of the doubts. Last but not least, always priorities your main fear and overcome it.
Remember, as you are overcoming your deepest fear you are building your bridge to your destiny. I must specially acknowledge this person as this person is one of our role model for many of us here today. For the first time, he took up a challenge to organized and lead few of the members to make this Halloween Meeting happened. I must said I am truly amaze and inspired with he’s creative ideas and new perspective. Can all you help me to give this person and his team a round of applause; I present you Toastmasters Jefferey Tang and team. Thank you.
Spooked Silly Halloween Meeting 09'

It was definitely a meeting that caught us by surprise!
The crowd was great and all pumped up for the meeting!
The organizing chair and team did a fantastic job on decorating and made sure everything ran scarily perfect =)
Many thanks to our club mentor; Johnson Yike, DTM for being our General Evaluator! Even though he was tired, he joined in throughout the meeting from being a "princess" to being a narrator, ghost story teller and finally the GE!
Thank you to the HELP TMC gang who joined the meeting as well =) We appreciate your enthusiasm and support!!
Thanks to the UNITAR Chinese Students' Association (UCSA) who sent their representatives to our meeting. Your cheeky dances and extended "hands" made us laugh and we finished cleaning the place early XD
Thanks Thank Thanks to the invited guests! Without you,the meeting wouldn't be a success!

The Best Table Topics Speaker was - Meyappa DTM !!
Nimmala TM has finally did her first speech!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! Now we all know that you are not a "professional liar" =)
Syuhadah TM has continued onto her second speech entitled "Passions" and she did it with tremendous improvements! *Applauds*
As for our guest speaker Dinesh TM, who was here for the second time, he gave a noble speech by persuading us to be socially responsible. Hopefully everyone will consider or perhaps take action to be a better person and contribute to ther society.
Our next guest speaker Xi Wen CC from TTDI did a good job by giving us tips on what to look for when we want to purchase a camera. He even brought his gigantic DSLR to "wow" the audience.I guess now everyone who was present should know that ISO is the most important key to sharp photographs.
The Best Speaker was - Nimmala TM !! =)
