Visit to CIMA Toastmasters Club

Visiting other toastmasters clubs have always been a fun treat for us. Just recently, we visited CIMA Toastmasters Club. They had a free and easy meeting with the official visit from their Area B2 Governor, Han Lee Hwee.

The Toastmaster of the Evening was Dinesh Kanna who hosted the meeting with humour and emphasized on punctuality. The energy of the meeting was kept at a good momentum especially during Table Topics Session where SEVEN brave souls (as they were called) went up and gave their best shot. The best table topics speaker was nabbed by our very own SAA, Hui Shan.

As the meeting progresses, CIMA TMC has a great surprise for their club members and also the Area B2 Governor. A cake was presented to the September babies - Ron, Ai Ling and Lee Hwee. It is definitely a moment that bonded the club members because of such a thoughtful gesture to present a lovely cake for those who celebrated birthdays in the same month.

When the meeting carried on, three speakers came forward to present their prepared speech -Michelle (KPMG), Ai Ling and Dinesh. Each of them entertained us in their own way and gave us a message to bring home. The best prepared speech speaker was presented to Dinesh Kanna.

The most significant time came; general evaluation session. The evaluators shared their opinions and points of improvement for the speaker while the role players informed us of their reports. Immediately after that, the best evaluator was won by Ron who evaluated on AiLing's Advance Story Telling speech (Lets Get Personal) entitled; Going back to my Hometown.

Lastly, Area B2 Governor Lee Hwee presented CIMA TMC with their President's Distinguished Club Ribbon for term 2009/2010. Though the meeting was attended by a small crowd, the energy level was kept up and everyone enjoyed themselves tremendously.

A visit to HELP University College Toastmasters Club

Hello again, so..how was your weekend? Hope you had a great one!

On a beautiful Saturday morning, dated 19 November 2009, we visited HELP University College for another exuberant Toastmasters meeting. The Toastmaster of the Morning, Jack, TM briefly explained the Toastmasters history to members and guest and also introduced the role players.

Lukreiza, CC, the Table Topics Master (TTM) then took control of the meeting to run the "table topics" session. The Word of the Day (WOD) was "EXUBERANT" which simply means full of energy, excitement and cheerfulness. Table topics provides everyone in the meeting an opportunity to practice their extemporaneous speaking skills. The rules are simple, members and guest are required to speak for 1-2 minutes to the questions posed by the TTM and also encouraged to use the word of the day. There were six participants for the session, speaking exuberantly on topics such as happiness, excitements, ways to cheer oneself up and also the mood they were currently in.

Congratulations to our guest Azri Syazwan, who is also from UNITAR for his courage to volunteer himself in the table topics session! It was his first time experiencing Toastmasters meeting and participating in the session. Azri, we hope to see you again in our upcoming meetings after the semester break :D

A big congratulations to Nimmala, TM for being voted as the Best Table Topics Speaker and also for completing her 4th Assignment Project from the Competent Communicator Manual! She gave a very in depth and personal review on part two of the Twilight Saga, none other than the "New Moon" movie. Nimmala impressed the audience with her usage of words and wide vocabulary. Although Nim thought that the movie was a bit mopey and draggy, she still finds Edward irresistible! (Oh no, another Team Edward!). Qinmei, ACB, CL evaluated Nim's speech on that day, highlighting on her strong points and some areas of improvement. Way to go Nim!

The WOD was used 24 times during the meeting. Yes, 24 times! It was indeed an exuberant meeting :) We really had fun and wish to attend another meeting next time.

Christmas Dinner with DU Advanced Toastmasters

Hello everyone, how have you been? Well, if you have been feeling not so good lately...why not get in the Christmas mood with us? Ho ho ho!

On 10 December 2009, we were lucky to be able to join DU Advanced Toastmasters Club for their Christmas meeting + Penang Street Food at The Mage Cafe (Damansara Jaya). Good food, great bunch of energetic people, infectious laughter and enthusiasm...what's not to love?
Oh, and not to be forgotten, all of us were given a Santa hat upon registration!

The word of the day is
MERRIMENT, a noun which simply means fun, laughter and happy talk. It definetely suited the mood of the casual meeting as everyone was enjoying themselves while keeping in touch with fellow Toastmasters from other clubs. We instantly felt very welcomed by the merry crowd and amazing camaraderie seen :)

Our Area B1 Governor, ACB CL Julian Gan was given the honour of becoming the General Evaluator (GE) of the meeting.

Jingle Bell Jingle Bell Jingle All the Way

The food's so fine though without wine

We laughed

Smiled

Paid Attention

Won some prizes

And took some photos

We did it the Toastmasters' Way!
