The Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNITAR) Club & Society Day was organized by the university's student body a.k.a the Majlis Persatuan Mahasiswa (MPM). The event was held in the Student Lounge on the 21st until the 22nd of August (Thurs-Fri).The two days event was held to promote all the clubs and societies available in UNITAR.
UNITAR Toastmasters Club was one of the clubs present on that day. Other clubs and societies which took part included the UNITAR Recreation and Adventure Club (URAC), Student in Free Enterprise (SIFE), UNITAR Chinese Students' Association (UCSA), Persatuan Mahasiswa India UNITAR (PMIU), Wawasan Club, Borneo Students' Society (BSS) and many more. The opening ceremony was graced by the Center for Student Development respresentative, En.Zulkifli. The event was then followed by performances from SIFE and PMIU.A competition of the most creative booth was announced and winners will earn prizes for their own club.
All the clubs and societies were allocated tables and chairs to set up their own booth. Some of the clubs were giving away gifts as a strategy to attract new members, while others decorated their own booth with colourful items including their committee organization chart, phamplets and so on. The UNITAR Toastmasters Club displayed newsletters, members' starter kit, certificates and used gadgets like laptops to display pictures of previous events.
Other than that, the UNITAR Toastmasters Club sent a representative - Jess Foong, CC who made a speech entitled,"Mother's Love" and was evaluated by Julian Gan, CC. The presentation was made to give students a glimpse of what the Toastmasters International is all about.
Unfortunately, the UNITAR Toastmasters Club did not manage to grab the attention of the judges for the most creative booth as the announced winners were URAC and SIFE.The two days event ended with a closing ceremony on Friday evening.
